Starry Night 2014
"On Friday night, a large
group of our members enjoyed an evening of star gazing ,socializing and
delicious snacks thanks especially to our new member Kim who baked and brought
us warm !! sticky buns! Thanks Kim.
Brian has 2 telescopes on his country
property and throughout the evening kept moving their location to catch the
best viewing of various stars, and constellations. As we watched the Milky Way
become more and more visible, as it got darker, many satellites and shooting
stars could be seen in the sky. There literally seemed to be millions of
twinkling stars above us. Saturn and it's rings were clearly visible from the
one telescope for quite awhile and I think we all agree that that was the
highlight of the viewing. Perfectly clear viewing conditions made for a
great night of star gazing shared with fire flies and mosquitoes to make it a
typically beautiful northern summer night.
Thanks Brian for hosting and
educating all of us on the night sky. "Lyn
